A Showstopper in Black and White

27.06.2024

Golif, an artist from the Außerfern region, won this year’s poster competition on his very first attempt. His radical design will epitomise the appearance of the 85th Hahnenkamm Races, for which ticket sales start in August.

Dynamic, elegant, mysterious, black and white - the motif for the 85th Races was unveiled on Thursday morning at the Starthaus during the "Golf the Streif" event. Its designer comes from Tyrol. Golif, from Austria’s Außerfern region, won the traditional poster competition, beating 157 fellow entrants in the process. No less than 306 works were submitted, including entries from Asia, North and South America.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said Golif, who won on his very first attempt. In addition to a VIP invitation to the races in January, he is also assured of 7,000 euros in prize money. He submitted three entries "and the jury decided in favour of the most radical one," said the enthusiastic snowboarder proudly. Golif describes his picture as follows: "I used white paper to represent the steep piste, down which a skier is plummeting. Fast strokes and blurring reflect the speed."

The poster contest has been organised together with the Bank für Tirol und Vorarlberg (BTV) since 1990. For Peter Kofler, BTV Managing Director for private customers from Germany and Kitzbühel, it is "a privilege to help organise the poster competition in this prestigious race every year - and the selection is always an exciting one." He praised the "sensationally high quality" of the entries and said: "This year's work is already hugely different to the posters of previous years."

From autumn onwards, Golif's work will be available to purchase in poster form at BTV branches, Sparkasse Kitzbühel, Kitzbühel Tourismus, Kitzbühel Museum and the KSC office. Proceeds from its sales will again benefit the Ski Club’s young talent.

KSC President Michael Huber also used the ceremonial unveiling on the Hahnenkamm to draw attention to the imminent start of ticket sales: “Sales in our webshop will start in August. Prices will be announced in July." All grandstand, VIP zone and group tickets for the 85th Hahnenkamm Races 2025 are available exclusively from the ticket office at ticket@hahnenkamm.com
