Kitzbühel’s young talent at the Olympic Games in South Korea
Lilly Fuchs, Simon Grasberger and Nikolaus Humml will be competing at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in South Korea.
During the press conference following the snow control for the 84th Hahnenkamm Races (19th to 21st January), the Organisers - Kitzbühel Ski Club - shared a very pleasing insight regarding their work with young and upcoming talent. KSC will be represented by three athletes at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in South Korea: Lilly Fuchs (born in 2006) and Simon Grasberger (2007) will compete in biathlon, Nikolaus Humml (2007) in ski jumping. The Winter Youth Olympic Games are taking place from 19th January to 1st February in Gangwon.
Sports Director Seppi Eberl also expressed his pride in the recent performances of Stephan Embacher (17) and Marco Wörgötter (21) at the Four Hills Tournament. Stephan Embacher came 13th at his World Cup premiere (!) on the Bergisel ski jump, while Marco Wörgötter made it into today's main competition with his jump in 31st place during the qualifier in Bischofshofen on Friday.
For over 40 years, it has been predominantly Nordic athletes from Kitzbühel Ski Club who have made the leap into the ranks of the world elite (from Klaus Sulzenbacher and David Kreiner, to Lisa Hauser and Anna Gandler, amongst others), but there is another promising young talent emerging in the Alpine category: Valentina Rings-Wanner (18), who is currently vying for points in the European Cup and promotion to the World Cup.
Kitzbühel Ski Club is also hosting the Austrian School Championships on the Streif and Ganslern slopes from 11th to 15th March 2024.
