Legends at the Hahnenkamm-Weekend

Legends at the Hahnenkamm-Weekend
21.01.2017
Stephan Eberharter obviously enjoys the sun. On Friday, the triple Kitz-Downhill victor sat next to Franz Klammer in the grandstand watching the Super-G, the first of the three races during the Hahnenkam-Weekend. The Hahnenkamm-Races are an annual "must-see" for the ex-racer from the Zillertal Valley, who last won the Downhill in 2004. It's an event that ski racers always enjoy, even after their sporting career has come to an end. All in all, 25 former winners attended the 77th Hahnenkamm Races in 2017, some of whom are still active racers. Thomas Sykora, Benjamin Raich and Marco Büchel are TV commentators, whilst Hans Knauß is already a living legend as he “camcords” the first run down the Streif before the race begins. Some of their former colleagues, such as Michael Walchofer and Mario Matt, who were still active members of the race scene in recent years are happy to join the spectators for once and experience a stress-free Race-Weekend. Athletes from some of the first Hahnenkamm-Races also came to visit. Anderl Molterer went down in Kitz history with a series of victories in the fifties, Willi Forrer from Switzerland triumphed in 1962 and Karl Schranz took home a total of six “Gams” trophies between 1960 and 1972. The 2017 Hahnenkamm-Races 2017 provide the setting once again for probably the greatest meeting of the ski world's most illustrious legends.
